Hey. I'm Ashley. Welcome to the blog. I'm not the most eloquent writer, but what I write gets the job done. This site will be filled with updates on techniques that I've learned (and refined), pieces that I am working on, Lock House Studio happenings, and lots and lots of pictures (hopefully!).
So, here is the gig: from June to mid-August I will be nestled along the Monongahela River in a quaint little studio listening to the cicadas hum and the train rumble by as I work on anything and everything ceramics. Lisa works with porcelain (eventually I will to), and (for now) I with cone 6 stoneware. Our clay comes from Ceramic Supply in Carnegie, PA (home, sweet, home), and so does most of our other supplies. That's a change for me: back at school we make our own clay (Gold Art is perf) in a pugmill and reclaim pretty much every day. It will be so nice to not have to wear the giant mask every time we need more clay. Let's just say that I risk getting the perfect blackmail photos taken of me (I'm super attractive with my crazy hair and mask that covers my entire face. NOT.) Anyway, this summer will be an amazing experience and I cannot wait to get started. I will try to write at least twice a week so keep an eye out for new posts every once in a while. If you ever want to know about something specific that I do, please feel free to comment and let me know. It will give me more to write about!
